Daintree Discovery Centre

The multi award winning Discovery Centre is a world class interpretive facility nestled in the heart of the rainforest, 10 kms north of the Daintree River. Experience the rainforest at every level; from the forest floor to the upper most reaches of the canopy.


From the top of the 23 metre high Canopy Tower you can check out spectacular orchids and you might just spot a python curled up in a giant basket fern. When the figs are ripening you can photograph Double-eyed Fig Parrots feeding in the top of the trees.


The spectacular Aerial Walkway provides unprecedented access to the mid level rainforest. A great place to watch for the gorgeous Buff Breasted Kingfisher or the colourful Wompoo Pigeon. You might also see a Cassowary with a clutch of chicks wandering along the creek below.


The Display Centre has a DVD theatre with films on conservation, cassowaries, crocodiles and more. Interactive computer kiosks with animated DVDs are a great hit with the kids and the creek ecology display has fish, frogs and turtles.


Self guided audio tours now feature an indigenous section that tells the story of the traditional owners; interesting information of how the traditional local Aboriginal people made good use of the plants, animals and natural features of the rainforest. Audio guides are available in 8 languages and a 48 page interpretive guide book is included as part of your entry fee.
